Methodology
-
Sentinel 2 and Landsat 8 datasets were used for this project. Sentinel 2 data was used for land usage and mineralogical classification; Landsat 8 was used to observe temporal change of volcanic activity using maximum likelihood classification of lava flows. Color composite images were also created using Landsat 8 SWIR and NIR bands to highlight the lava flow.

-
Thermal imaging was attempted using Landsat 8 to observe temperature change of lava flows. However, temperature readings were not able to reflect accurate measurements and were discarded.

-
In order to remove cloud cover in sentinel-2, ArcGIS Pixel Editor tool was attempted, but we were unsuccessful due to lack of access to needed plug ins to operate the tool.

-
No hyperspectral data has been collected of the study area making it difficult to determine full mineral composition of lava flows.
